Memorial Day Weekend

It's been a busy weekend! Bobby now is working 4 ten hour shifts so he had off on Friday. He went to Tri County Technical College to take his placement tests and was accepted!!! He will begin classes in the fall to pursue a nursing degree. After he finished with the test, we went to Walmart for groceries and then grilled hamburgers for dinner...yum!!!!!

Saturday we went to the Anderson Jockey Lot! Let me say...I love the flea market! We saw a stuff puppy at Walmart a while back that teaches children songs, colors, letters, etc. It was 30 some dollars. Well, we found the same one in like new working condition at the flea market for $5!!! So we got it for Connor. I also got him a pair of bib overalls for 50 cents...can't beat that! It was a great time but I started to hurt really bad from walking so much and still recovering from my c-section. Saturday night someone came and took a kitten....3 more to go! UGH!

Sunday of course was spent at church. BUT we did have a litter of 8 puppies born! So no rest for the weary!

Yesterday, we had another busy but great day. We sold Little Gabe so we drove about an hour to meet the family 1/2 way. Gabe fell in love with is new owner right away! They live on a vegetable farm and said they'd have him the greenhouse with them that evening! He'll love it! On our way home, we stopped at Aunt Sue's...a cute little restaurant. It was packed with vacationers! But the food was delicious. Last night we had a picnic at church. Preacher roasted a pig and it was sooo good! Afterwards we went fishing at the lake which is right on the church's property. And guess what....I caught a fish! The photo above is a pic of the fish I caught. It's the biggest one I've ever gotten!

Needless to say...yes, we were busy...but we had a great weekend!

The Garden's Blooming and The Bees Are Buzzing!

We have had some gorgeous sunny days as well as some much needed rain. We still need 10-11 inches of rain just to get out of the drought. But we can't complain we've been getting a lot of showers which are great for the garden. Bobby has most of our garden planted. Let me see if I can remember what's in it: Corn, green beans, yellow squash, zuccini squash, spinach, mixed greens, tomatoes, hot peppers, green peppers, potatoes......hmm....I'm sure I'm missing something. The corn came up within 3 days of planting it! I couldn't believe it! Bobby's worked hard on it and even took Connor out there with him. He used a baby sling carrier to carry him around while he used the hoe in the garden! haha
On Saturday, Bobby found a swarm of honeybees in the backyard. There was a ball of them about the size of a basketball in the honeysuckle on our fence. Our preacher manages his own beehives so we called him and he said he wanted to try to "catch" them. He came over Friday night along with 2 other men from the church. I watched from a window! haha He managed to collect the queen into this special box and all the bees followed. It was pretty interesting. It definitely got Bobby's interest and now he's hoping to get some honeybees next year and we can sell TaterHill Honey!

And of course we can't have a blog post without some new photos of Connor! :)

It's hard to believe that Connor is a month old today! Thought I'd share these photos while I have a minute. The one of him in the carseat...he's holding his Bible that he took to church with him yesterday! :) And the one of him in the blue outfit is showing off his shoes that he wore for the first time.

TaterHill Update

Well, it's hard to believe but Connor will be 3 weeks old tomorrow! So much is going on here at TaterHill...there's babies everywhere! Let me try to give you an update.

First of all, many people said that I wouldn't be able to take care of the animals after Connor was born....well, guess what! I figured out a way and I'm already doing it. My doc cleared me on Monday to carry about 20 pounds. The Lord blessed me with a good baby that loves to sleep. So during his naps, I head outside to feed the critters. Bobby had the clever idea of hooking up the wagon to our riding mower and then I use that to haul hay and water down to the goats and sheep. It makes it much quicker and so much easier. Plus, I'm not having to carry buckets of water a far distance. So...so far so good!
Here's an update for the different critters:
Dogs: Mollie's puppies are growing and will be 5 weeks old on Wednesday. They are the cutest little things. We still have one available to sell. The other 2 are going to local families. No trips to the airport this time. Montana and Rissa are due at the end of this month or very beginning of June depending on which mating they conceived. Both are starting to get their bellies so I'm thinking they are both pregnant. Maddie (my shih tzu), Gretta, and Cheyenne are adjusting to the baby in the house. Maddie has been a complete brat and getting into trouble since I came home. She likes Connor though. You should see her tail wag when she's close to him. Cheyenne and Gretta check him out a little bit but don't really seem to be bothered by his presence.
Kittens: The kittens will be 5 weeks this old also. They have all found homes to go to when they are 8 weeks old. They are still living in the house with us. We have a baby gate up to keep them in the hallway/bathroom area. So far it's working because they can't climb very high.
Rabbits: Bobby has pretty much taken over the rabbit habit for now. He could give a better update then me but I know that we have several litters of babies including mini lops, netherland dwarfs, and lionheads. We are hoping to get Connor to a rabbit show with us soon but with these gas prices, I'm not sure it's worth it!
Goats: Our baby goat, Spud, left for his new home on Saturday. I believe they are naming him Buddy. From what I hear, he is settling in well and loves to play with the children in his new family! We have 2 goats that should be having babies in the fall.
Us: Here's what's been going on with us. My mom has been here for the past 3 weeks. My dad came down on Wednesday. They left this morning at 4am. It was a HUGE help to have my mom and dad here. My mom scrubbed the house from top to bottom...it needed it bad with me being on bedrest, then hospitalized, and then having the c-section. They laid new carpet in the living room for us and also bought us a used couch and matching chair. My living room doesn't look the same at all! Today, Bobby is with the National Guard and I'm home here with Connor. This is my first official day of being a mom by myself! So far I'm surviving!!

More Connor

It's been a few days since I posted some photos. I admit, I slacked off in the photo department. Here are the most recent that I have. For those of you who aren't sure who is who in the photos...here you go....from top to bottom: Connor with Daddy, Connor with Grandpa Ebersole, Connor with Preacher at his baby dedication, Connor snuggling with Mommy, Connor with me outside, and Connor in his All American Boy outfit! :)
